Giving in the Grace of God
I. Give from a cheerful heart
2 Cor. 9:7 - Each person should do as he has decided in his heart - not out of regret or out of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver.
II. Give according to what you yourself decide to give, and not looking at what others give
III. Give by first looking at Jesus and how He gave of Himself
2 Cor. 8:9 - For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ: although He was rich, for your sake He became poor, so that by His poverty you might become rich.
IV. Give according to what you have, not what you don't have
2 Cor. 8:12 - For if the eagerness is there, it is acceptable according to what one has, not according to what he does not have.
V. Give as a part of your own personal devotion to the Lord
2 Cor. 8:3-5 - I testify that, on their own, according to their ability and beyond their ability, they begged us insistently for the privilege of sharing in the ministry to the saints, and not just as we had hoped. Instead, they gave themselves especially to the Lord, then to us by God's will.
VI. Give with thanksgiving for God's wonderful gift of forgiveness, Eternal Life, etc.
2 Cor. 9:15 - Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.
