Following the Holy Spirit

I.      There is no substitute for following the Holy Spirit

A.     Following the Holy Spirit is a major way we show our love for God

B.     We must love God more than our tradition and more than the ways of man

II. The Holy Spirit is the presence of Jesus among us

V.     Without the Holy Spirit we will become empty

A.     A church without the Holy Spirit is the most depressing institution in the world

VI. God commands us to be filled with the Holy Spirit

A.     Follow His commands

B.     Adapt our lives to His ways

C.     Cherish and apply ourselves to His leadership

VII.        Following the Holy Spirit is no mystery

A.     He has given us examples and instructions in His Word

There are impostors - v13

The Bible is our "sacred writings" that give us wisdom - v15

The Scripture is inspired by God - v16 "God breathed"

That the man of God may be adequate, equipped

B.     Look at Jesus if you want to know how to live

The Gospel of Luke (or any Gospel of the Sacred Writings)

C.     Look at the early church if you want to know how we are supposed to live and what we are supposed to do

The Acts of the Apostles

·        The necessity of being empowered by the Holy Spirit

·        The necessity of knowing our mission - "you shall be My witnesses"

·        The fulfillment of prophecy is that we will prophesy - Acts 2:17
